Given the tremendous positive response to the original Mother and Child painting (it has become the runaway favorite of fans), I decided to paint another version. People were constantly remarking about the "softness and love" captured by Mother and Child.
All this talk brought back memories of my own motherhood and nursing my boys. Some of the greatest times of peace and contentment came in late afternoons, with the sun shining softly through our western bedroom windows, as I finished nursing. I would hold my contented son in my arms and feel the unique fulfillment of Life that only a woman would understand. I tried to capture this memory using the original idea and adding the intimacy of bare skin.
Happy music and art, Cinder LeDell
