This has always been one of my favorite paintings. I created it shortly after returning from watching a concert in Moscow. The image of the woman - absolutely lost in her music as she and others in the Chamber Group played some achingly haunting pieces - stuck in my mind as vividly as a photograph. There is something about her expression that captures the essence of Chamber music as well as the melancholy of the Russian people.
