"Spring"

When I painted "Spring" in 1993, the garden of our reflecting pool was a chorus of delicate tulips. I wanted to immerse myself in their song, and while I painted them I could hear their music. Later, our summer flowers around the pool also sang to me, and I decided at that time to paint an oval scene for each of the seasons there. The tulips are the sopranos in this artistic quartet.
