My HUSBAND is the cook in our family, and in this painting I tried to capture a typical setting. When he is preparing family meals, especially holiday feasts, I find him sitting on a special low part of the kitchen counter.

His usual approach to these occasions is to get the dishes going in the ovens and stoves and then watch their progress with one eye, while reading a book with the other. Here I tried to capture him in this role from a different perspective, from the outside looking in. P.S. The food was delicious.
