In our wing wall arched alcoves sit the little trees that at Christmas announce the beginning of the holiday season (see "Christmas Alcove" OP162). The rest of the year, sometimes with flowers, sometimes alone, they try to add some interest to the large expanse of white stucco that stretches across that side of our house.

In this painting, one can truly see that, for these little trees, their real mission in life is not the green growing season of warm weather, but the snow and cold of Christmas.
