"Windmill on Li River"

While drifting along the Li River in a boat, an artist would literally find 100 things to paint in each mile of the river. In this particular mile I focused on two old abandoned windmills sitting on the edge of the river.

In ancient China, just about everything that was important took place on or near the banks of a river. I tried to imagine what the windmills were used for, grinding grain, perhaps? As my mind pondered the question, I thought I saw the windmill blades turning. Was it a trick of my imagination, or are the mills still useful?

Happy music and art, Cinder LeDell
