"Bird on Bamboo"

Bamboo is prevalent in China, especially in the south. Many times as I walked along I would see a birds sitting on single stalks of bamboo that appeared to be their favorite resting spot. It's funny, but the birds seemed to avoid bamboo when it was in groves, but they loved these lone stalks. Did they want to get a better look at us?.
