"Bamboo"

The ultimate goal in a brush painting is to take something simple and bring out its implicit beauty. As it is traditional to learn to paint bamboo before flowers, this was my first brush painting. Look at the stalk, and you'll see where I pushed harder on the brush and where I lightly skidded over the surface of the paper.
